What does the Bible mean by fulfilling the word, in John 19:28?

  • John 19:28-29 KJV  After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.  29  Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

He meant that all prophecy about him had to be fulfilled.

  • Psalms 69:21 KJV  They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

If killing is a deadly sin how does a police or soldier that killed in order to protect people get sentenced in the afterlife?

  • 1 Kings 2:5 KJV  Moreover thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.
  • Numbers 35:31 KJV  Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

The penalty for thou shalt not kill is the death penalty. Numbers chapter 35 explains the difinition of murder.

  • Matthew 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

No it does not.

Romans chapter nine is an explanation of God’s prerogative, his right to establish his own plan of salvation. The actual plan is given in the last verse of chapter.

  • Romans 9:33 KJV  As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

See the study below for a more in-depth treatment of the topic.

He states in relation to the birth of Rebecca’s twins that the elder would serve the younger opposite of what the law commanded to show that salvation would not be by the law, not by works but his choice.

  • Romans 9:11-12 KJV  (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)  12  It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

Romans 9 explains that salvation is according to God’s election, his choice, and nothing else and the last verse tells you that choice.

  • Romans 9:33 KJV As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

It is in a few places such as;

  • Jeremiah 2:27 KJV Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

Evolutionist believe we came from a stone. God says that is just turning your back on him.

If you are unfamiliar with this belief of evolution then you need to do some studying.

  • Romans 1:23 KJV  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Jus a walk through the evolutionary time scale

If Jesus died to pay for all sins, what is to stop us from committing heinous crimes?

The same morality that always existed, God is going to judge you. It seems there is very little understanding of salvation's methodology. The Lord’s dying for ALL sins did not save anyone. It open the door for salvation based on individual forgiveness of sins. It is a two part process. See the study, Methodology of Salvation.

God’s law, and holiness, demanded payment for sins, ALL sins. Christ pay the penalty satisfying the Law and acquiring ownership of the sin debt. The Lord’s sacrifice simply registered an accounting entry. All men past from death under the law to life under “grace” or whatever term you like. Everyone was enter into the book of life and salvation is ours to loose.

At this point all sins are paid for and the new owner can do as he chooses individually. He can for give or retain. God has based individual forgiveness and salvation on a conditional bases, whosoever will believe. If you are desirous of committing crimes or continue in sin you have not the repentance necessary to believe and if you continue God will judge you and deal with you.

So if you wish to reject God’s condition and continue committing heinous crimes you are going to burn in hell forever. The morality is still there.

  1. Titus 2:11-12 KJV  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,  12  Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
  2. 2 Timothy 4:2 KJV  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
  3. 1 Timothy 5:8 KJV  But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
  4. Philippians 4:8 KJV  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
  5. Romans 12:17 KJV  Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

There are these five things God wills for your life. The idea that God has a plan for everyone is a non-biblical error. These five things plus a few more are the basic plan for all the saints. If you prove yourself faithful in them, study his word, and you will open your mouth and witness his saving grace whenever, wherever, however, you have opportunity, he has many openings for faithful stewards of his word and he will find a place for you.

Be careful of number three. Young men with families are to get jobs and support and raise them. That is a Christian testimony in itself, and there is always time for studying and witnessing.

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 KJV  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  15  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Yes, I would say they are in a lot of Churches, even leading them.
