The purpose of the New in the Old series is to show that the New Testament is contained in the Old Testament. Although, I have had the idea of this tucked away in my brain as I studied, it was not a priority in my writing until I was confronted with the Grace Movement, or grace theology. This is commonly know as hyperdispensationalism. Basically, it teaches that Paul’s gospel is different that that which came before him. That he was the first to be saved by Grace alone through faith without works.

Those that adhere to this idea do not seem to comprehend that if you have a teaching that makes the Bible contradict itself—your wrong! Paul, himself, said in Galatians that the gospel, the one he preached as according to him any other is accused, was preached unto Abraham. How many times does God’s word have to say that man is bad and nothing he can do will change that. Again, as stated by Paul, there is no law a man can keep that will save him.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Salvation is by God's grace through faith at any and every time in history. For additional consideration of this point see The Precepts to the Bible, and the precept, "Not by Works."

Another point taught in the grace theology is that revelation and mystery are separate items, i.e., that the mysteries that Paul speaks of having been reveal to him were not revealed in the revelations in the Old Testament. Through this series it is hoped that it will be shown that this is untrue. It will be shown that there are some direct references and indirect ones, similitudes, and that God just, for his own purposes, had not open the eyes of men to them.

Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

This is know as Progressive Revelation.

Romans 16:25-26 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

God intended all his works to be revealed but not necessarily understood until it was time according to his purposes and plans.

1 Corinthians 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

And so, we commence this series in the hope of providing ample proof that the mysteries of the New are in the Old.
