The purpose of the New in the Old series is to show that the New Testament is contained in the Old Testament. Although, I have had the idea of this tucked away as I studied, it was not a priority in my writing until I was confronted with the Grace Movement, or Theology of Grace. This is commonly know as hyper-dispensationalism. Basically, it teaches that Paul’s gospel is different that that which came before him. That he was the first to be saved by Grace alone through faith without works and that he was the first to begin preaching it.

Paul, himself, said in Galatians that the gospel, the one he preached was the only one and any other was accused, was preached unto Abraham. The Bible from cover to cover teaches that mans works, his righteousness, cannot save him. Again, as stated by Paul, there is no law a man can keep that will save him.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Salvation is by God's grace through faith at any and every time in history. For additional consideration of this point see "The Precepts to the Bible," and the precept, "Not by Works."

The New in the Old Testament may not have been reveal, made understandable, until the New was begun but it is there in type, in similitude.

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

This is know as Progressive Revelation.

Romans 16:25-26 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, 26But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

God intended all his works to be revealed but not necessarily understood until it was time according to his purposes and plans.

1 Corinthians 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

And so, we commence this series in the hope of providing ample proof that the mysteries of the New are in the Old.
