The best definition for the word 'gospel' is?truth. It is the truth concerning the topic at hand. Today we are interested in one of the gospels, the gospel of your salvation.

Yea, if this is all the good news, the gospel, we would go on with our lives ever fearful of the future. Salvation is a beginning; there is more to know and understand.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

This is very important concept; we are sealed with the Spirit of God; I would like confirmation.

Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

When something is really important it will be repeated three times within the Scriptures. It is important to know and understand that part of the gospel of our salvation is that at the moment of trusting in Christ Jesus we are sealed with the holy Spirit. It is our liberty in Christ. There are those who do not want us to know this.

Galatians 2:4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Romans 8:20-21 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, 21Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Our liberty in Christ is being sealed with the holy Spirit of God until the day of redemption. What is the bondage that those opposed to this great liberty want bring us back under?

Galatians 4:21-24 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? 22For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. 23But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. 24Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

Those that oppose our liberty desire to bring us back under the bondage of the law. Our liberty in Christ: once saved, always saved; if anyone, any doctrine, any teaching, takes away our liberty and puts us back under the law to obtain or maintain salvation; it is a perversion of the gospel of salvation. If anyone, any doctrine, teaching, rejects our liberty in Christ and says that we can lose or give back our salvation; it is a perversion of the gospel of our salvation.

Consider also the bodily resurrection as some pervert the Gospel with a claim of a spiritual resurrection.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

It is not necessary to know this to be saved but after to defend and recognize those deceivers it is necessary. It is part of the gospel, "God was manifest in the flesh."

1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Colossians 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

John 2:19-21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21But he spake of the temple of his body.

Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

1 John 4:2-3 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Then there are those that pervert the gospel in teaching that we are saved by the works of the law.

Romans 9:30-33 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 31But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

There is a bit more to the gospel than the bare minimum to be saved. Denying any part of it, once saved always saved, saved by grace through faith without the works of the law, Christ came in the flesh bodily and rose the same way, is to pervert the gospel.

Believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God that he died for you sins, was buried, and rose again the third day and thou shalt be saved. But it is a new birth, a new beginning, with much we need to know and understand to glorify God and serve our Lord.
