Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 9:23-24

There are those that may be termed Biblical Agnostics they may faithfully preach the gospel of our Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus, and have many of the basic doctrines and precepts correct, yet when it comes justifying a particular concept or interpretation that they hold and cannot defend with Scripture they plead the fifth, man cannot know God or his ways.

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Job 9:10 Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.

And, it is agreed that God’s thoughts and ways are past man’s ability on his own to understand. But why stop with the above passages of Scripture when there is more. We may not be able to fathom the mind of God on our own, but he has reveal to us his mind and ways.

Romans 1:19-21 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

God has condemn man for not seeing what he has clearly inserted into his creation to make himself know unto men; “even his eternal power and Godhead.” Not only can we know him, he states that we did and willingly rejected that knowledge.

Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Our God stated plainly that he, “will do nothing, but he revealeth” it to us through the prophesies he has given. Why study the Word of God if you have already told yourself you can’t know him? If you are not looking to learn his thoughts on things, and how he operates so you can see him acting in the world around you, what are you looking for? Maybe the Lord will not show one man everything, but in denying that he is revealing his secrets to men will surely deny you understanding in them.

I write this in response to those who reject the scriptures and holding to some position without any scriptural support justifying it by stating you can’t know more of what the postion he holds due to man’s finite mind not being able to understand God’s ways. Some men have more finite minds than others.

John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Revelation 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

We are in the last days, everything that is knowable of God is knowable to us now if only we will study his word.

“An...approach to arguing for agnosticism is the argument from incomprehensibility. Theists have often been content to say that we are unable to comprehend God, that his being transcends our mundane experiences and that our concepts, which are derived from such experiences, cannot be used to describe him. If true, then this might be thought to count in favour of agnosticism; if we cannot comprehend God, then how can we reason with any confidence concerning his existence?”
